How to Prepare Your Exact Online Integration for the Switch to Asynchronous Processing
Exact Online recently implemented a significant change to the InvoiceSalesOrders endpoint. This endpoint is used to automatically convert existing sales orders into sales invoices.
The update adds an extra parameter that allows invoicing to be processed asynchronously. This new approach offers significant advantages, such as improved processing of large numbers of transactions and a reduced risk of timeouts during peak periods.
Mandatory switch to the async method
Exact Online has announced that the current synchronous method will no longer be available as of October 2026. From that point on, use of the new asynchronous method will be mandatory.
Does your integration currently still use synchronous processing? If so, we recommend switching to the new method as soon as possible so that you’ll be ready well before the deadline.
What needs to be changed?
For asynchronous processing, the SalesOrderID parameter must be used. This allows you to submit a set of sales order IDs to be invoiced for processing.
Note: When invoicing multiple sales orders at the same time, there is a limit of 500 sales order lines per processing run.

- Wholesale & Distribution (all editions)
- Manufacturing (all editions)
